Despite several rounds of recent rain for many, the U.S. Drought Monitor recently returned Marion County to abnormally dry status. The spotty nature of showers and thunderstorms recently has the area a bit drier than normal. Additional rounds of precipitation late this past week into this weekend will continue to help, according to the National Weather Service, but widespread heavy rain is not expected.
