Pella High School is hosting a fundraiser for the Hackman and Brand families this Tuesday. Student President Maddie Schmitz says they want to help out these families with recent hardships they’ve had over the past few weeks. The Hackmans’ garage caught fire on April 27th, and the family has been displaced ever since; Class of ’22 graduate Aidan Brand suffered a major spinal injury in a dirt bike accident that occurred during Tulip Time.

Students will leave from the square at 7:30 on bikes and will arrive at the high school tennis courts on Tuesday. Staff and student council members will be along the route. Students can park at First Church as well as other spots available for parking uptown.

Schmitz says they are only having students and staff participate in bike riding due to safety concerns, but if any member of the community wishes to donate to the two families, they will help facilitate those.
