Both Pella and Pella Christian earned Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards this year.

Pella Christian’s fall musical “Cinderella” was honored with Outstanding Overall Technical and Creative Achievement, the top technical honor for a high school and fourth time for PC’s Tech Team. A full list of the 2023 Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards granted to PC include:

> Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role: Avery Verhoef as Stepsister
> Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role: Abby Dart as Stepsister
> Special Recognition for Performance in Principal Role: Bridget Vande Zande as Cinderella
> Special Recognition for Performance in Principal Role: Trae Van Maanen as Prince
> Special Recognition for Performance in Principal Role: Jema Settles as Stepmother
> Special Recognition for Ensemble
> Invitations for competition for the Triple Threat Award: Avery Verhoef and Abby Dart

Pella High School was honored with:

– Outstanding Student Orchestra
– Outstanding Featured Ensemble – The Urchins
– Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role – Jacob Rietveld as “Seymour”
– Outstanding Achievement in a Behind-the-Scenes Role – Ryder Bates for Sound Design and Board Operation
– Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role – Kolton Messer as “Audrey 2 Voice”

The Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards will be held on Thursday evening, June 1, 2023 at the Des Moines Performing Arts Civic Center at 7:00 pm.
