The Norwalk girls golf team finished their season by placing sixth out of nine teams at Wednesday’s Class 4A, Region 2 Final Tournament at Willow Creek Golf Course in Des Moines.

Senior Ruby Hoch capped a solid season for the Warrior girls with an 18-hole round of 97. Norwalk’s sixth-place team score was 414 as they also counted Addie Smith’s 103, Lydia Krueger’s 106 and Allison Soukup’s 108.

West Des Moines Valley and Waukee Northwest placed first and second, advancing to the state meet with scores of 327 and 348. Valley’s Hallie Yates won medalist honors by 11 strokes, carding an impressive 4-under-par round of 69.

Baseball team falls to Boone

On Wednesday night, the Norwalk baseball team suffered a 17-2 home loss to Boone in five innings. The score was tied 1-1 after three when the Toreadors took control by plating 12 runs in the top of the fourth.

Junior CJ Davis led the Warriors, going 2-for-3 with a double and one run scored. Caleb Ochanpaugh singled for the team’s only other hit and also drew a walk. Four Norwalk pitchers combined to allow 11 hits while walking seven and hitting four batters.

The Warriors, now 1-2 overall, will host Bondurant-Farrar tonight at 7:30.
