A rich tradition of excellence among educators in the Pella Community School District continued this week. At the end of year assembly at Madison Elementary, Pella Elementary Teacher Deb Fessler was awarded the Golden Apple Tuesday morning. Fessler teaches first grade, and is perhaps best known outside of the classroom for having her students perform the National Anthem during home volleyball and basketball games twice a year. Deb joins four educators from Pella Middle School that have earned the Golden Apple Award in the last decade, including Jerod Garland and Hazel Bogaard in 2021-22. The Golden Apple Award is given to those nominated monthly across central Iowa by WHO-13 in Des Moines, and Fessler will be featured in an upcoming newscast.
