Knoxville Economic Development Corporation has been working on the East Village housing project where the former East Elementary was located since 2021. The East Village development consists of 11 lots and one city park. Two houses have been completed and sold; two homes are under construction; and now, two duplex units are for sale.

The two duplex units, located at 501 & 503 S Sixth Street, are the first of their kind to be available in Knoxville as City code had to be addressed to be able to accommodate the sale of individual duplex units.

While this type of housing is popular throughout the country, these are the first units for sale in Knoxville.  KEDC is offering this new housing choice to Knoxville, according to Glenn Lyons, consultant for the Knoxville Economic Development Corporation.

Both units are 1,000 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 story living with a semi open-concept living area and a 1 car attached garage. The duplex was built by local contractor Jordan Swayne with Swayne Construction.

The public is welcome to attend an open house today from 4:00-6:00 pm.
