The Twin Cedars Softball Squad blew away Moravia 8-1 on Friday while the baseball squad had a tough set back 3-2. Jillian French was once again the story for the Saber Softball Squad going the distance limiting the MoHawks to one hit. Offensively the Sabers had 11 hits, four for extra bases led by Rylee Dunkin going 3/4 and two RBI and two stolen bases. Coach Zack Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, while French is not like his two all-state pitchers from last season’s State Title team, she is solid and has put in the offseason work.
Dunkin: “She’s done a whale of a job so far. What I’ve seen she’s obviously a different pitcher than Grace and Ali for sure. She just needs to build that confidence and decide that when I get out there, I’m going to dominate.”
The Sabers end week one at 3-2. Meanwhile the baseball Sabers left Moravia heartbroken as the MoHawks got an RBI single to send everyone home in the bottom of the 7th. Twin Cedars got on top first 1-0 in the 1st inning. The Sabers were also limited to three hits, one each by Gavin Clark, Chase Rozenboom, and Wyatt Findley. Blake Micetich took the loss, going 1 1/3 inning of relief. Both Saber squads are off until Tuesday when they host Seymour.
