The class 3A #7 Knoxville Baseball Squad seemingly cannot win a game the conventional way. But the Panthers are winning, and they did just that Wednesday night with a 6-4 victory over class 3A #6 Ballard as heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers fell behind again in the 1st inning when Ballard plated three runs all unearned as starting pitcher Trey Wight struggled and gave way to Koby Higginbotham, who shut down Ballard in 4 1/3 innings surrendering just two hits and striking out seven. Trenton Kingery had the big bat as he went 2/3 with two home runs and four RBI. Coach Turner Devore tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, Kingery has been working a lot lately in the batting cage, and getting to know what pitches to see.
Devore: “He’s got to learn to be a more complete hitter. We has to know when a guy sits out for a curveball because that’s what they’re going to bring you. He’s learning a lot and he needs to continue to improve so he can be a good hitter on the next level.”
Meanwhile in Washington, the Knoxville Softball Squad split a double header against the Demons winning game one 3-0 ,and losing game two 4-2 after enduring a lightning delay. Knoxville baseball is 9-0 while softball is 4-2. Both teams head to Eddyville to get back to South Central Conference play tonight. Listen for the softball broadcast on 95.3 KNIA starting at 7:15.
