The Class 3A #15 ranked PCM softball team dominated Perry in a 12-2 win Wednesday night, and the Mustangs baseball squad also blew out the Blue Jays in a 14-0 win.
After scoring just one run Tuesday night, the PCM softball team’s offense exploded for 10 runs in the first two innings to take control of the game and never let up. Perry got two runs back in the bottom of the second inning, but the Mustangs got them back in the top of fourth and fifth to earn the run-rule victory after the fifth inning. Rylee Parsons recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts, while allowing just two runs on three hits and two walks to grab her fourth win of the summer. Joslin Briles and Tori Lindsay combined to go 6-7 at the plate with four runs scored, three doubles, and five RBIs, and RaeAnn Duinink added a two-run home run in the victory.
On the baseball diamond at Perry, the PCM baseball team also picked up a run-rule win after the fifth inning. After two scoreless frames, the Mustangs offense erupted for seven runs in the top of the third inning to blow the game open. PCM added two runs in the top of the fourth, before grabbing five more runs in the fifth inning and ending the game in the bottom of the frame.
The PCM softball team improved to 4-3 on the season and 3-1 in the Heart of Iowa Conference. The baseball team’s record improved to 3-5 on the summer and 3-1 in conference play. The Mustangs softball team is back in action tonight for a 7:30 p.m. road game at Grand View Christian, before both of the PCM summer sports teams wrap up the week with home games Friday night against West Marshall.
