The Pella Christian and Pella softball teams will compete in the first of two Tulip City Showdowns in 2023 tonight with a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader.

The Eagles softball team will try to snap their 10-game losing streak, while getting their first win in conference play this season, after they fell to Newton 11-5 Wednesday night. The Dutch sit one game above P.C. in the league standings and won their second straight game with a 12-1 victory over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Thursday night. Pella claimed the season series with two wins against Pella Christian a year ago, with all three games being decided by one or two runs. The Dutch won the meeting on June 13th, 2022, with an 8-6 ninth-inning two-run walk-off homer from Catrina Dixson. Pella then claimed the front end of the June 29th doubleheader 7-6, before the Eagles won the final game in the series 7-6 in the nightcap of twinbill on a seventh inning walk-off homerun from Emma Eekhoff.
