The Pella Christian softball team dropped their two games at the Webster City Tournament Saturday, falling to the hosts 6-4 and Class 1A #2 ranked Martensdale-St Marys 16-9.

Opening the day against Webster City, the Eagles jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the opening three frames, but the Lynx came back with a five-run bottom of the fourth and held on the rest of the way. Pella Christian responded against a ranked Saints squad by building up another 4-1 lead after an inning and a half. Martensdale-St Marys answered with eight runs in the bottom of the second, but the Eagles battled back with five runs in the third and four innings to tie the game at 9-9. The Saints offense posted seven more runs in the bottom of the fourth to drop Pella Christian to 6-13 overall. 

Emma Eekhoff had a big day at the plate, going a perfect 6-for-6 in the tournament with a double, eight RBIs, and her third and fourth homeruns of the season. The sophomore also struck out six while taking the loss in the circle against Webster City. Emri Agre was 2-for-2 against the Lynx with a double, a walk, one RBI, and a run scored. Brynn Roozeboom and Addison Bandstra each recorded a hit and batted in a run against the Martensdale-St Marys, while Maddy Van Zee pitched all six innings and suffered the loss.

The Pella Christian softball team has a challenging week ahead with five games against ranked teams. The difficult stretch for the Eagles starts Monday at 7:15 p.m. with a Little Hawkeye Conference game at Class 4A #2 ranked Norwalk that can be heard live on the KNIA3 stream at KNIAKRLS.com. The Pella Christian baseball team is also back in action Monday night at Norwalk, with a 7:30 p.m. game that can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
