Two slugfests in Melcher-Dallas last night as the Saints Summer Squads both fell to East Union. Baseball lost 17-11 in eight innings, while softball was outscored in a wild affair 20-15. The Saints Baseball Squad came the closest it has come all season to winning as they led 10-7 after five innings, but East Union plated four runs in the 6th to forge ahead. But the Saints got one back in the bottom of the 7th to tie it at 11 and send the game to extra innings, where the Eagles proceeded to score six runs to slam the door shut on the Saints. Melcher-Dallas was unable to make the Eagles pay for ten errors and was outhit 14-7. Trevor Hock and Reece Chiabotta got two hits, each while Logan Godfrey drove in three runs. After beating East Union 15-14 on Saturday, both the Saints and Eagles Softball Squads combined for 35 runs in a 20-15 East Union win. Both teams had huge innings as Melcher-Dallas seemed to take control in the 5th with eight runs to lead 14-8, but the Eagles outscored the Saints 12-1 the rest of the way. Both teams rapped out 14 hits, each. Paetyn Anderson had an incredible night at the plate, homering three times, twice in Melcher-Dallas’s eight run 5th and drove in seven runs. Kasyn Reed also smashed a homer and drove in two. Both Saints squads travel to Moulton-Udell tonight.
