The Pella Christian softball team was swept in a doubleheader 8-0 and 8-3 by Class 4A #2 ranked Dallas Center-Grimes Monday night, while the Eagles baseball team also fell in both games of their twinbill against the 4A #9 ranked Mustangs 6-2 and 10-0.
On the softball diamond at DCG, the Pella Christian softball team struggled out of the gate as Emma Eekhoff provided the lone two hits in the game one loss. Pella Christian started game two on a much better note, jumping out to a 2-1 lead after the first three frames. The Eagles scored another run in the top of the fourth, but the ranked Mustangs tied the game in the bottom of the frame and scored five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to drop P.C. to 8-20 overall and 2-12 in the conference. Emri and Amaia Agre and Faith Kacmarynski powered the Pella Christian offense in the game two loss, combining to go 6-for-11 at the plate with two of the team’s three RBIs.
The Eagles baseball team also got off to a rough start against a ranked DCG squad, falling behind 4-0 after the first two innings. Pella Christian plated a run in the top of the fourth and fifth innings to cut the Mustangs lead in half, but two more runs in the bottom of the fifth gave DCG the game one win. The second game was all Mustangs, as they scored runs in all five innings played to drop the Eagles to 12-12 overall and 5-10 in the conference. Caleb Van Arendonk led the P.C. offense with a 3-for-4 performance in game one with an RBI, while Lincoln Vander Molen went 2-for-3 in the second game.
The Pella Christian baseball team will try to bounce back tonight against with a 7:30 p.m. road non-conference game at PCM, while the softball team is off until Wednesday night’s game at Oskaloosa.
