The PCM softball team bounced back from a 1-3 showing last week with a 7-2 home Heart of Iowa Conference victory over Perry Monday night, while the Mustangs baseball team walked off the Blue Jays for a 13-12 extra innings win.

The PCM softball squad turned things around following a rough week offensively with 10 hits, while all nine players defensively recorded a putout in the victory. The Mustangs scored all seven of their runs in the middle innings, scoring five times in the third and twice in the bottom of the fourth. Lillian Humpal had a night to remember, recording her first career varsity hit in the third inning and her first career home run in the fourth while going 3-for-3 on the night. Rylee Parsons picked up the complete game win for her ninth of the season, giving up one earned run on six hits while striking out four. With the win, PCM softball improved to 9-7 overall and 7-4 in the conference.

After falling behind 8-5 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, the Mustangs baseball team responded with seven runs to capture their first lead of the game. Perry answered with two runs in the sixth and seventh innings and sent the game into extra innings. PCM held the Blue Jays scoreless in the top of the eighth and improved their record to 11-9 overall and 8-2 in the league with a walk-off in the bottom of the frame. Easton Webb batted in four runs in the game and added his second homer of the season, while Jack Jungling and Will Owens posted three RBIs.

The Mustangs summer sports teams are back on their home diamonds tonight at 7:30 p.m., as the baseball team hosts Pella Christian, and the softball team hosts Lynnville-Sully.
