Round two between the top three softball teams in the Little Hawkeye Conference begins tonight when Indianola hosts Norwalk at 7:15 p.m. Pregame coverage on kniakrls.com (KNIA3) begins at approximately 7 o’clock.

The Class 4A sixth-ranked Indians and seventh-ranked Warriors are tied with No. 2 Dallas Center-Grimes atop the Little Hawkeye softball standings – each squad 12-2 in conference play.

Norwalk has won eight straight and will be seeking revenge tonight after being swept by Indianola in a June 5 doubleheader, 12-4 and 2-1. The Indians took control of game one with a six-run third inning and clubbed 15 hits and four home runs, including two by freshman Tessa Gripp. Kiley Kindelspire went 2-for-3 and drove in both Indianola runs in game two as Izzie Benge pitched a two-hitter to outduel Norwalk’s Olivia Dougherty, who struck out 11 in defeat.

Indianola enters the night with a 19-7 overall record, Norwalk is 19-4 and DC-G is 20-4. The Warriors host the Mustangs in a crucial doubleheader on Thursday and the Indians will visit DC-G for a single game on Monday, June 26.
