The Knoxville Parks and Recreation Center is holding Rec Rocks every Monday throughout the summer.
This is the second year that the Parks and Recreation Center is hosting the event. On Monday’s, employees of the Center place designated rocks at various parks in the city, and the goal is for community members to find the rocks and return them to the recreation center. Knoxville Parks and Recreation Wellness Coordinator Angie Jones says there are multiple locations where the rocks can appear.
“If you get on our Facebook page, you can actually see the parks that are involved in that. We’ve got Young’s Park, the Miracle Playground and Skate Park, Auld Park, the Rec Center Playground, Brooks Garden and the Competine Trail. Those are the places that were hiding the rocks right now. And then, we just encourage everyone and anyone in the community to go out and find these rocks, and you turn them back into the Rec Center and then you’re going to win various prizes depending on which rock you find.”
Jones adds that the prizes range from tee shirts to recreation center day passes.
