A rematch of the class 1A State Softball Championship game from last season will take place at Southeast Warren on Monday. Twin Cedars, who is having a better than predicted season ranked #12 in the latest class 1A poll will take on class 1A #3 Southeast Warren. In the team’s last match up, which took place in Fort Dodge, the Sabers won 6-3 in the 1A state title game. Sabers Coach Zach Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, the key is keeping the Warhawks from hitting the long ball.
Dunkin: “Offensively is where they make their hay, they have great pitching, but they have one of the best offenses in class 1A. That was our game plan last year at State was to keep them in the ballpark, make them manufacture runs and string hits together rather than allow them to hit homeruns.”
The two teams were also separated in regional play with Southeast Warren getting the one seed in region three while Twin Cedars is the two seed in region eight. First pitch is set for 6:00.
