The Pella Christian softball team fell 12-9 to Des Moines Christian in what was supposed to be a triangular Saturday morning, but their second game versus Clarinda was canceled due to rain.

Despite playing deep into the night on Friday against Newton, the Eagles’ bats were wide awake for the 8:30 a.m. contest. Pella Christian scored four runs in the first to take a 4-1 lead, but the Lions answered with a five-run second frame and never looked back. Des Moines Christian added on six runs between the fourth and fifth inning to push their lead to 12-4, and despite adding on five runs in the sixth frame, the Eagles fell to 10-23 overall. Amaia Agre, Brynn Roozeboom, and Chloe Snyder each recorded two hits in the loss. Agre, Faith Kacmarynski, and Maddy Van Zee each had two RBIs on the day, while Zan Vee suffered the loss in the circle.

Both of the Pella Christian summer sports teams welcome crosstown rival Pella to Eagle Lane Monday night for the third and final Tulip City Showdown of the season.
