While the Eagles clinched the season series earlier this month, the Pella softball team ultimately continued their strong second half of the conference season, winning the Tulip City showdown round two 8-6, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS Monday.
The Dutch struck first in the top of the first inning with one run, before their defense struggled out of the gates, with four errors allowing Pella Christian to build a 4-1 lead.
Pella would ultimately rally, and score multiple times in the third, fifth, and sixth innings. Brynn Roozeboom of PC was able to close the gap in the bottom of the sixth with a home run launched into the teeth of the wind, but the Dutch hung on against the Eagles top of the order to earn the win.
Ava Curry went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, Katie Scheckel had three runs batted in on a 2-for-4 night, and Kamryn Long added a triple.
The Dutch improve to 10-17 overall and earn their fifth conference win; the Eagles drop to 10-24 on the season. Pella returns to action at home against North Mahaska this evening, while the Eagles travel to Ankeny.
