A benefit held to honor a young girl who died in a sledding accident this past winter brought communities across the county together Saturday night at Smash Park while highlighting a local spirit of generosity.
Milly Moo’s Hugs for the Humane Society was well received, with attendees filling parking spots and loading up on donations to honor Milly Zellmer. Family and friends organized the event to highlight Milly’s love for animals, and a trailer-load of items were purchased for the Marion County Humane Society. A pet adoption was even made at the event, and on Sunday, trees were planted to honor the young girl and the impact of her short life.
Milly’s mother Kristi tells KNIA/KRLS the family will reveal the total monetary donations made with a check presentation in the near future, and that she’s thankful for the overwhelming turnout and support.
