Hot bats and near perfect defense carried the class 1A #12 Twin Cedars Softball Squad to an upset over 3A #12 Albia on Wednesday night 7-5. Jillian French was great in the circle and outstanding at the plate going 5/5 with two doubles and an RBI. She scattered eight hits and struck out six. Kisha Reed was 3/4 with four RBI and Rylee Dunkin was 3/5. Coach Zach Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Reed’s season was in doubt after shoulder surgery in March, but she has put together quite a season after a slow start.

Dunkin: “She had shoulder surgery in March and there was a question as if she was going to play. The first week of practice she was just getting to the point where she was allowed to pick up a ball and bat, so it’s taken her this time to come around where she should be.”

Twin Cedars is now 17-5 on the season.
