The Knoxville Raceway will get a jump on the holiday weekend with a $7,000 fireworks show Saturday night following the races.

It is Mid-Season Championship week at the Raceway, and six inductees will also be welcomed into the Knoxville Raceway Hall of Fame. For the fireworks at the end of the night, they have been paid for by Bruce Wood, a long-time race fan, who moved to Knoxville from the state of Washington for the races. Knoxville Raceway Race Director and Promoter John McCoy says Bruce has offered to pay for the entire show in honor of his late wife’s love for fireworks.

“His wife really loved the fireworks. He said he wanted to put on something special event in remembrance of his wife and I just think it’s a great idea.”

With rain in the forecast, McCoy adds that Saturday, July 8th is the back-up date for the fireworks show if the races are rained out tonight.
