A lack of volunteers nearly stopped Knoxville’s annual Fourth of July Bike Parade, but a local family has stepped up to ensure that families can enjoy the event this year.

After it was announced that the event wouldn’t be held this year, Lindsey Carlson was inspired by her daughter’s love for the bike parade and decided to take up organizing the event. A teacher at Knoxville High School, Carlson additionally wanted to ensure other families could enjoy the annual event. Her efforts have resulted in a bike parade that is sponsored by Kone Korner and will have popsicles for participants at the end of the trail. The event will take place on the Competine Trail, beginning at the Knoxville Public Library’s new story walk on the west side of the Knoxville Hospitals and Clinics. The Knoxville Police Department will assist with the bike parade by helping participants cross Highway 14 on the route. The event will also have prizes for participants with the most festive bikes.

The Fourth of July Bike Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and it is free and open to the public with no registration required.
