One of the traditional and most popular themes of Thursdays in Pella returned this week.

Ag in the City included several returning favorites, including farm implements and machinery on display lining the streets in downtown, local FFA students hosting animals and other displays, the Red Rock Threshers, and meals from the Marion County Cattlemen. According to Marion County Farm Bureau and the PACE Alliance, they estimated attendance was as high as it ever has been for the celebration, estimated at over 2,500 visitors.

“I would also be quite remiss if I did not thank the PACE Alliance for putting together the Thursday Nights in Pella series, Marion County Bank for sponsoring the night, the members of the Farm Bureau Ag in the City Committee I serve on for organizing the event and Marion County Farm Bureau’s Outreach Coordinator, Jill De Bruin, who did much of the heavy lifting of getting contacts made to help us have such a great event,” said Cress Van Wyngarden, Ag in the City Committee Chair with the Marion County Farm Bureau.

Additionally, the Little Miss Firecracker and Mister America contest was held, with the winners Bella Jean Templeton and Gave Holleman riding in today’s 4th of July parade.
