The Class 2A #10 ranked Pleasantville baseball team’s Class 2A Substate 7 quarterfinal round game is set.
Earning a first-round bye in Class 2A Substate 7, District 14, the 27-6 Trojans will host PCM Wednesday night. After going 12-18 last season, Pleasantville posted their first 20-win season since 2018 and their highest win total since 2016. The Trojans enter their first postseason contest with a 12-game winning streak, their longest of the season.
Pleasantville’s first opponent in district play, PCM, outlasted Colfax-Mingo in a pitcher’s duel Saturday night for a 2-0 win. Wednesday’s matchup will be the 12th time during the Bound era that the Trojans and Mustangs have squared off, dating back to 2012. PCM won the meeting between the two teams last season 3-0, giving them the narrow 6-5 advantage in those contests. Pleasantville’s last win over the Mustangs was in 2021, when they picked up a 10-6 victory.
The Trojans and PCM’s quarterfinal match on Wednesday will be the second game of a doubleheader at Pleasantville High School. Williamsburg and East Marshall will play the first game Wednesday at 5 p.m., with Pleasantville and the Mustangs following around 7 p.m.
