The #6 in class 4A Indianola softball team led from start to finish in their regional semifinal clash with Glenwood Saturday evening, winning 11-2 as heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Indians scored two runs in each of the first, second, and third innings that included homeruns from Jordyn Gripp and Katie Fosenberg, as well as a two-RBI double from Dana Blake to put the Indians up 6-0. After Glenwood got a run back in the fourth, the door was slammed shut on an Izzy Sloan three-run bomb to left field.
The Indians added insurance runs capitalizing on Rams errors, and Ava Tichy pitched a gem in the circle striking out six and giving up just three hits in the complete game. Tichy said after the game she was confident because the defense behind her has been playing so well.
Indianola now advances to the regional final game on Tuesday where they will host #10 Winterset.
The Indianola baseball team hosts Waukee Northwest in the substate semifinal contest. The game will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45pm, with first pitch scheduled for 7pm.
