After 22 years serving the Knoxville Police Department, Sergeant Chris Rowland has officially retired.

An open house was held yesterday to honor the Sergeant for his service to the community. Chris grew up in the town of Knoxville and it has been rewarding to him to give back. After looking back on 22 years of being a police officer in Knoxville, Sergeant Rowland is grateful for his time with the department.

“I’m excited for the city, I’ve loved working here. It’s some of the best citizens and if given the opportunity and a whole lot less years, I would do it again.”

When reflecting, Chris also said, “You would not believe the things we see everyday. It’s the wildest job I never wanted, but I never knew I’d love it so much.”

Former Sergeant Rowland has already accepted a new position with the Department of Homeland Security at the Des Moines Airport. He mentioned his family is breathing a sigh of relief that he will be stepping into a new career.
