The Knoxville Minor Girls All-Stars are currently 1-1 at the state tournament in Sioux City this week. After an 11-5 win over Lemars on Thursday they fell to Johnston 7-0 on Friday. In the Thursday contest Knoxville struck for four runs in the 4th inning and five in the 5th to put the game away. Knoxville outhit Lemars 12-5 with Halle Boender, Ruby Clark, Mya Weldon, and Bella Landis getting two hits, each while Jaylee Weldon, Paisley Smith, Pressley McKay, and Alea Davis each got one hit. Bea Burkhart got the win striking out 17 batters. In Friday’s contest, Knoxville’s bats were quieted being held to just one hit in a 7-0 loss to Johnston. Knoxville is set to finish pool play against Grandview today.
