Our top ten area sports moment takes us to Melcher-Dallas as the Saints boys and girls basketball squads pulled the sweep over their cross county arch-rival Twin Cedars on January 31st. The girls started the night off with a 48-to-36 win behind an 11 point 16 rebound performance from Gabby Overgaard. The Saints held a 21-to-14 lead at the half as both teams struggled shooting the ball. However the Sabers would cut the margin to two…but a 14-to-four run in the fourth quarter clinched the win of the Saints. Addi Wadle scored 11 points while Kianna Jackson chipped in ten while Kasyn Reed grabbed 12 boards. The boys completed the sweep with a dominating 64-to-51 victory as Owen Suntken went off scoring 36 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Melcher-Dallas had the lead as high as 22 before settling for the 13 point victory. The Saints shot seven-for-15 from three point range and forced 20 Saber turnovers.
