With the forecasted temperatures this week being in the upper 90’s with heat indexes of 100-110, the city of Knoxville will be opening up two cooling shelters in town on Wednesday 7/26, Thursday 7/27, and
Friday 7/28 this week. Shelter locations will be at the Library and the Rec Center during their normal hours of operation.

– Knoxville Rec Center 800 S Park Ln Dr 8AM-9PM

Also, the Knoxville Rec and Knoxville Fire Department will be sponsoring a “Beat the Heat” event for all children Thursday 7/ 27 from 1130AM-1PM at the Knoxville Rec Center.
