Continuing our top ten countdown of the ten biggest sports stories for Knoxville we get to #5. On October 18th, Freshman Isaac Rankin qualified for the class 3A State Cross Country Meet as he finished 11th at the State Qualifying meet in Pella. Rankin had a great freshman season winning a couple of meets and getting all-South Central Conference. Following his state run where he finished 98th overall, Rankin told KNIA/KRLS Sports he already had a plan on how to improve himself for his upcoming sophomore season.
Rankin: “Just knowing that’s the best competition in the state is pretty crazy. I want to do better at State and try to run under 16:30 is a big goal for next year.”
Rankin’s time at state was 18:00. Tomorrow the #4 story for Knoxville.
