We head to Twin Cedars for the Area #5 sports story. On June 15th Twin Cedars Softball Pitcher Jillian French pitched her first no hitter in a 9-1 victory over Orient-Macksburg. The Bulldogs grabbed the lead in the 1st inning on a combination of walks and hit batsmen. After that French did not allow the Bulldogs anything else as she went the distance striking out 14 batters, facing the minimum the rest of the way. Coach Zack Dunkin told KNIA/KRLS Sports French had to come to terms with her being the #1 pitcher this season and was brilliant.
Dunkin: “For someone who was throwing all your innings, that’s a lot of weight and it’s a mental burden as well. I was super proud of her on how she handled it and how she approached it.”
French would throw all but 3 2/3 innings this season going 21-6 as she struck out 186 batters and walked just 59 with an ERA of 1.96.
