The Knoxville Police Department wants to remind anyone attending the Knoxville Nationals to allow plenty of time for traffic.

When coming to the races, prepare to leave early due to heavy traffic on Highway 14. It is important to watch out for pedestrian traffic as well.

The Nationals, which is one of the biggest events in the state, brings thousands of people to the Knoxville community. With the large influx of people comes a lot of traffic. Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller encourages people to look at maps to know where you’re going when you leave the race track.

“Make sure that you know where you’re going. I would encourage everybody who is listening to this to look at a map and maybe utilize some of our city streets to get out of town. Even if you have to go around 15-20 minutes out of your way. Chances are you’re going to be time ahead when it’s all said and done.”
