pcm-teeter-state-bound

As we inch closer to the top spot on our countdown of the top sports stories at PCM during the 2022-23 school year, our #2 moment saw a freshman grabbed the attention of the cross country world in October.

At the State Qualifying Cross Country Meet at Pella Sports Park on Thursday, October 20, Abi Teeter claimed All-District honors with a 14th place finish and qualified for State (21:02.95). Teeter accomplished the feat while battling cystic fibrosis, a rare genetic disorder that primarily affects the lungs. Punching her ticket to Fort Dodge for State was a surreal feeling for the freshman.

“It feels almost unreal. After I finished I was like, wait a second, this actually just happened. I actually just ran that race. And it’s just exciting just saying you can make it to State, not even like as a freshman, but just in general for a sport that’s so mentally tough and just tough in general just to make it there.”

Teeter went on to place 75th at the 2022 2A State Meet at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge on October 28th.
