Moderate drought conditions remain in place across most of south central Iowa, according to the latest weekly report. The U.S. Drought Monitor shows continued dryness across the entire state and locally. Severe drought remains in southeast Marion County. Rainfall that fell in the middle of this week missed the Tuesday cutoff for the update and will be included in next week’s report. Cooler than normal temperatures are expected to continue, according to the National Weather Service, with the next best chances for precipitation this Sunday and again mid-week.
