The Norwalk boys golfers opened the season by placing sixth out of eight teams at Monday’s Jesse Peck Centennial Invitational, held at Ankeny’s Briarwood Country Club.
Dallas Center-Grimes won the tournament with a score of 307, Ankeny placed second with a 314 and the Warriors carded a 323.
Sophomore Ian Lux and junior Mason Johnson paced Norwalk with 7-over-par rounds of 79, both placing in the top 12. Grady Sigrist scored an 80 while Braylon Stockwell and Lane Juergens both added an 85.
Ankeny’s Drew Hensen earned medalist honors with a 73, edging DC-G’s Noah Moberg by one stroke.
Norwalk’s next meet is a dual vs. Des Moines Roosevelt set for Thursday at Waveland Golf Course in Des Moines.
