Gavin VanGorp will be back for his junior year to play quarterback for the PCM football team this season.
The talented junior will be protected by an offensive line that is returning all of their starters from last year. VanGorp is a multisport athlete and has excelled on the basketball court, along with being crowned a state champion in the shuttle hurdle relay at state track and field last year. PCM running backs Adrien Robbins and Griffin Olson were also a part of that relay team.
VanGorp had a 61% completion percentage in 2022 and threw four five touchdowns. He is looking to take the PCM offense to a new level in his junior year.
PCM Head Football Coach Greg Bonnett mentioned that having experienced players like VanGorp back will be a way to help get the younger guys ready for varsity football.
“I feel like with the guys that we have back and the number of dudes we have back that our culture and their leadership and their influence on the guys is going to be enough to take care of it.”
PCM opens their season on Friday against Sigourney-Keota. PCM football can be heard live every Friday on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com
