Central College named new faculty for the 2023-24 school year:
Adam Bradley, assistant professor of kinesiology, with a B.S. from Iowa State University; Ph.D. from North Dakota State University.
Courtney Comstock, lecturer of accounting, a 2020 Central graduate and CPA.
Jim Fuller, lecturer of kinesiology, with a B.A. from Doane College and an M.Ed. from the University of Nebraska.
Erik Insko, professor of mathematics and computer science, with a B.A. from Loras College and M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
Sonja Lindberg, lecturer of sociology, with a B.S. from St. Cloud University and M.S. and Ph.D. from Iowa State University.
Ann McDonald, lecturer of business management, with a B.S. from Northwest Missouri State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Iowa.
Matthew Sutter, lecturer of accounting, with a B.S. from Utah Valley University, M.B.A from Kent State University and completing his Ph.D. from Iowa State University.
Michael Thompson, associate professor of computer science, a 1998 Central graduate with an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Katelin Valster, assistant professor of kinesiology, with a B.A. from Wartburg College; M.S. from the University of Illinois at Chicago; and Ph.D. from Concordia Chicago University.
“This year’s new faculty members were each hired through competitive national searches and from very talented slates of applicants,” says Mary E.M. Strey, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty. “We are delighted that they are joining colleagues who are equally committed to the preparation of students for success following graduation from Central and the development of engaged citizens.”
Five retired faculty members were recognized at an annual celebration of faculty accomplishments event in May.
Chia Ning, emerita professor of history, retired in December 2022 after 31 years of service.
Gabriel Espinosa, Class of 1979 and emeritus professor of music, retired after 27 years of making music at Central.
Mark Johnson, emeritus professor of mathematics and computer science, retired after 29 years of service.
Jaclyn Rundle, emerita professor of business management, retired having served the business program for more than 20 years.
Pam Richards, associate professor of kinesiology, retired after 39 years of service at Central.
“We honor these faculty for their collective 147 years of dedication to Central students,” Strey says. “They have influenced thousands of students and hundreds of colleagues during their time at Central. Thank you.”
