The PCM volleyball team started their season by going 2-1 at the Newton Cardinal Early Bird Invitational.

The Mustangs defeated Saydel 2-0 (21-11, 21-17), and Des Moines Hoover (21-9,21-6) and fell to Newton 2-0 (18-21, 11-21) to finish second in the quad.

PCM volleyball coach Sarah De Vries said that she felt good about how the girls played Tuesday and that she was happy with the consistency of their play. She mentioned that Newton was a really strong team and was able to beat the Mustangs at the net with their big hitters.

PCM travels to Lynnville-Sully for a quad on Thursday evening.
