West Elementary School in Knoxville is back in session for Knoxville’s youngest learners.

West Elementary is the home to students that are in preschool through second grade. West has 400 students and nearly 70 staff members. It is the start of an educational journey for all public school students in Knoxville.

Young learners have now started to fill the classrooms of West for the 2023-2024 school year. Principal Amy Taylor says after summer time it’s typical for kids to be worn out after the first couple days of school. 

“It’s not uncommon for us to have little ones just dead asleep at their desk because they are just worn out from their day. Also, families it wouldn’t be uncommon for your kiddo to come home and either get on the bus or get home after you pick them up to be crashed out on the couch by 5:00 or 5:30”

West Elementary is located at 306 Park Ln Dr in Knoxville.
