For the first 22:00 of the game, the Knoxville Football Squad was dominating every aspect of its game against Boone, then the Toreadors intercepted a Panthers pass and the game flipped as Boone took that momentum and defeated the Panthers 15-14 as heard live on 95.3 KNIA on Friday night. Knoxville jumped up 14-0 in the 2nd quarter after a Jay Kellar 12 yard pass from Brenden Woolsey with just over 2:00 left in the 1st quarter, then after an errant snap of a punt that put the Panthers deep in Toreadors territory, Koby Higginbotham snared a one yard pass from Woolsey and the Panthers were in control. However, with around 2:00 left in the 1st half, a Boone pick turned into a score for the Toreadors just before the 1st half ended and it was 14-7 Knoxville at the break. Coach Matt Dunkin told KNIA/KRLS Sports that while it was not what he and the team wanted, he thought the guys played through adversity during the game.

Dunkin: “Firing on all cylinders there, and some injuries and plays that didn’t go our way. I was proud of the guys for fighting through adversity and they were coachable, it just stinks that the game ended the way it did.”

Boone would score with :52 left in the game, and cap it off with a two point conversion for the game winner. Woolsey was 15/22 for 165 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Jay Kellar led the Panthers in receiving catching five passes for 61 yards and a score. Knoxville is 0-1 and will host Clarke next week in its home opener.
