Local state fair exhibitors have succeeded at several food competitions. 

Kathleen Haley Taylor of Knoxville won first place in the any other quick bread category for the state fair quick bread competition. Nora Peterson of Knoxville was the overall winner in the youth division for the sweet goods competition. Laura McNeely won first place in the honey banana bread and any other honey quick bread categories while finishing first place for the entire division. 

Dawn Shaw of Pella won first place in the on the go healthy snacks competition. 

Joshua Peterson of Knoxville won first place vanilla ice cream in the homemade ice cream contest and also received the sponsor’s personal choice ice cream award.
