Unofficial results are in for the special election for Warren County Auditor that concluded Tuesday, with Democratic Party candidate Kim Sheets winning handily 5,051 to 2,538 over Republican Party candidate David Whipple.
Sheets said in a statement:
“This is an historic night for Warren County. When the Warren County Supervisors tried to take away the voice of the people, the people of Warren County stood up for Democracy and said with one voice: we trust competence over conspiracies.
Today, I stood for an election in the county I’ve served for over 20 years. Tomorrow, I’m going back to work for the people. I am honored to work for the people of Warren County-they’re my boss. As I’ve always said, good government is drama-free and non-partisan. The people expect to be able to count on their leaders to do their jobs and do it right. That’s what I’ve always done, and I’m happy to make that pledge again tonight.
Thank you first of all to my husband, Matt, and my entire extended family, for your love and support through this journey. I’d also like to thank the many supporters, volunteers, and most of all, the voters of Warren County for placing your trust in me.”
There was a voter participation rate of 19% in the special election, with 7,958 total voters participating out of 39,026 registered voters. Find the unofficial election results below.
