Helping Hands food bank and thrift store in Knoxville is in need of volunteer help and donations.

Helping Hands is an organization that provides items to anyone in the community or surrounding areas that are in need free of charge. All of their workers are volunteers and everything in the store doesn’t cost a thing to whoever needs it.

Right now Helping Hands can use volunteers to work any time at their store Monday, Wednesday, or Friday from 9:00-3:00 pm. They also need food and clothing donations, especially canned soup and toddler clothes.

Helping Hands is asking for the community’s support as we get closer to the holiday season to provide turkeys and hams for holiday gift baskets that the organization provides.

Helping Hands Director Chuck Galeazzi says there is a need for volunteers right now.

“It’s just like anything else. You have to have them and you can do a much better job if you have more people. You can keep the shelves more organized and you can do a lot of different things.”
