The Knoxville Community School District wants to notify the community about a scam. 

KCSD has been alerted that someone is making calls to request sponsorships for the varsity basketball team. This is not a legit request and it is an attempt to scam the public.

KCSD Business Manager Craig Mobley told KNIA/KRLS News they are still trying to find out more details about the scam.

“They’re basically calling local companies wanting to do sponsorships and they’re not affiliated with us. There was no agreement or contract that was approved by the board or anything like that so I’m trying to sort out all those details and figure out how this whole thing got started and how they got associated with us at all.”

The KCSD wants the community to know that if someone calls with this request, to know that there aren’t any current sponsorship drives happening.
