The Pella City Council will consider a 28E agreement with surrounding townships for ambulance service at their meeting today. As part of the deal, Lake Prairie, Summit, Black Oak, and Richland townships, as well as the City of Leighton, will pay the city a total of $36,000 for services provided during the previous fiscal year and $46,000 for the current budget through June of 2024. The agreement is meant to be temporary until a possible essential services tax vote, which according to the memo, is tentatively planned on March 5th, 2024.

The council will also consider a resolution for voluntary annexation of land along West Washington Street, establish October 31st as Beggar’s Night, accept final public improvements at the Old City Hall Alley Reconstruction Project, and discuss the Marion County Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Additionally, three ordinances are on the agenda related to food trucks at their meeting today. Three ordinances on the agenda would establish new language in city code for mobile food units to differentiate between those businesses and other peddlers in the community. The new regulations would create separate definitions for mobile food unit and establish allowable uses and zoning.
