The first lot in Knoxville’s new Veterans District has officially been sold.

The lot was sold by Sundance Realty to the Roozeboom family with the seller represented by Ryan and Sara Roberts and the buyer represented by Hannah Vander Veer.

Veterans Park, the former site of the Knoxville VA, is transitioning to a real estate spot in a city that was recently designated as a thriving community. A lot of work has gone into the new Veterans District over the last couple years and although the work isn’t completely finished, the city is ready for residents to start calling the district their new home.

There are going to be several residential neighborhoods created in the district over the next 20 years, with the first being Veterans Park. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery mentioned that she hopes people will want to move to Knoxville to make it their home.

“I definitely hope so. I think there is people who like to live in larger communities and there is people who like to live in the rural areas. Especially if you work here there is more reasons to stay in our rural communities. We’re doing a lot of the downtown revitalizations. We’re investing a lot of money back into the community with our quality of life improvements. The new park, the new trails, the schools are being updated and so I think there is a lot going on for Knoxville right now that would motivate people to move here.”
