Marion County Public Safety Night was held Sunday on the Knoxville square.
The event gave community members an opportunity to explore the ins and outs of police vehicles, fire trucks, and ambulances. People also had the chance to speak with public safety personnel who protect and serve area communities. At the event, there was a large variety of fire trucks, EMS and police vehicles from the departments that serve the county.
Marion County Emergency Management Director Jeff Anderson says this event serves two different purposes.
“It’s always kind of a 9/11 remembrance from that horrific piece of our American history but here locally it serves another purpose, and that purpose is to create an event where the public can come interface with the public safety folks who protect and serve them everyday in Marion County.”
Marion County Emergency Management is currently looking for vacancies to be filled in nearly every department, especially EMS.
The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio was at the event as well.
