Marion County property taxes are due on October 2nd this year.
The county runs on a fiscal year, so typically the first half taxes would be delinquent after September 30th, but the 30th falls on a weekend this year, so the due date has moved to Monday, October 2nd for 2023. Second half taxes delinquency will start on April 1st in 2024. Property tax statements were sent out mid-late August and if you have not received your statement you can get a copy of it at www.beacon.schneidercorp.com.
The penalty for property taxes that are paid late is 1.5% that is assessed per month after the due date. Taxes can be paid through the mail, at the courthouse dropbox, over the phone, online, or at the courthouse office. To pay online you can visit www.marioncountyiowa.gov. Marion County Treasurer Michaela Bigaouette says paying online is the most convenient.
“Online is always the easiest way. Especially as we get down to the wire and we do have more foot traffic in the office. You can go to our website marioncountyiowa.gov. We’ve got payment links out there and you can use that website 24/7.”
