The fall athletics teams at Pella High School and across the state are getting to the halfway point of the 2023 season. Pella’s volleyball team is back in tournament action this Saturday at Carlisle, and the #2 boys and #1 girls in 3A Dutch cross country teams are away from competition until next Tuesday at Williamsburg. For the volleyball girls, they’ll look to build on several successful invitational weekend performances, according to seniors Aaliyah Riddick and Kyli Heimstra. They were featured on Today’s Lely Radio Sport Page this week. Action for Pella begins in Carlisle on Saturday at 9 a.m.
Meanwhile, ten Dutch athletes are in the individual rankings for the cross country teams who have their eyes on contending to repeat as the 3A state champions. On the boys, that includes (Class 3A):
#2 Canaan Dunham
#4 Nathan VanderWaal
#21 Noah Schuknecht
#28 Aren Hellbusch
The girls ranked athletes include:
#3 Ruth Dunham
#4 Marissa Ferebee
#5 Autumn Blink
#20 Lizzie Neumann
#21 Macy Schroeder

Ferebee and Schroeder are looking forward to the stretch run. They were also featured on Today’s Lely Radio Sport Page this week. Pella returns to action on Tuesday at Williamsburg.
